Family drawalong in which children's writer and illustrator Nick Sharratt shares his favourite books and shows the audience how to draw his characters.
Nick Sharratt brings his Once Upon A Drawalong to Norwich Theatre Playhouse on Saturday 10 April 2027, at 2:00 pm. It's a family drawalong for all ages, and the session runs for an hour and 15 minutes without an interval.
Sharratt is a children's writer and illustrator who's worked on around 300 books, and he's spent a good part of his career making drawing feel like something anyone can do. During the session, he shares some of his favourite books, introduces new ones, and shows the audience how to draw many of his characters. If you've spent any time reading with kids, you'll recognise the titles: You Choose, Shark in the Park, and the Pants series are among them. He's also illustrated for authors like Julia Donaldson, Michael Rosen and Kes Gray, and has done the illustrations for many of Dame Jacqueline Wilson's children's novels. He's been awarded a gold Blue Peter badge, too.
It's recommended for ages four and over, and children under twelve need to be accompanied by an adult. There's a bit of a dress code to lean into: families are encouraged to come in their pyjamas. You'll also need to bring your own drawing things, paper and something to lean on, so you're ready to follow along. Signed books will be on sale at the venue, which is handy if you're coming with a little one who's a fan.
