35mm screening of Nicolas Roeg's 1973 psychological horror 'Don't Look Now', followed by a Q&A with Matthew Holness and Mike Muncer at Cinema City.
Cinema City is screening Nicolas Roeg's Don't Look Now on Wednesday 28 October, as part of the Norwich Film Festival. It's a rare 35mm print, so the film runs from the original celluloid rather than a digital file. The screening starts at 8:00 PM and runs for 150 minutes, with a Q&A to follow.
Don't Look Now is a 1973 psychological horror that's well-known for its editing and atmosphere. Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland play Laura and John Baxter, a couple who travel to a bleak, wintry Venice after their young daughter drowns. While John works on restoring an old church, Laura finds comfort in the warnings of two psychic sisters. The 35mm format gives the film's editing and its iconic score a bit more weight than you'd get from a digital version.
The discussion afterwards is led by Matthew Holness and Mike Muncer. Holness created Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and directed the horror feature Possum; Muncer hosts The Evolution of Horror, the UK's leading horror film history podcast. Between them, they've got a good handle on both the comedic and the darker ends of the genre, so they should be a solid pair to pick the film apart once the credits roll.

Cinema City is the city's three-screen Picturehouse, based in the 17th-century Suckling House with its vaulted ceilings, stone arches and antique panelled rooms. Inside you'll find a courtyard and The Dining Rooms bar and kitchen, so there's plenty of space to hang around before or after. The screening is on Wednesday 28 October at 8:00 PM, with the Q&A following the film.
