Motown/ Northern Soul

Sprowston Sports and Social Club is hosting a Motown and Northern Soul night on Friday 6 November, from 20:30 to 23:00. It's a double-bill of the two sounds that defined the soul era: the polished, chart-topping Motown hits from Detroit and the faster, rarer Northern Soul records that found a second life on the dancefloors of the North. If you're into soul, it's a straightforward night of the two side by side.

The venue is the Sprowston Sports and Social Club on Blue Boar Lane, NR7 8RY. It's a committee-run club staffed by volunteers and supported by its members, with a large function room and a members-only area. Beyond the music, there's a football pitch, a lawn bowls green, a petanque court, a pool table and dart boards on site. The club programmes music every other Saturday and Sunday afternoon, giving the stage to local talent, and runs various musical events throughout the year.

Entry is £4.00 for non-members, and the night runs from 20:30 to 23:00 on Friday 6 November at Sprowston Sports and Social Club, Blue Boar Lane, Norwich NR7 8RY.
