Hands-on workshop with artist Danielle Neale to create a hand-painted sign on reclaimed wood using stencils and Annie Sloan paints.
Argent & Sable are running a bespoke sign workshop at The Old Piano Shop on Sunday 8 November, and there's a second date on Sunday 13 December if that one doesn't suit. Both run from 12:00 to 17:00, so you'll be in and out in a single afternoon.
The session is led by artist and maker Danielle Neale, who works under the name Argent & Sable. The idea is simple: you pick a word that resonates with you and bring it to life on a piece of reclaimed wood. You'll work with layers of paint, stencils and texture, using Annie Sloan paints throughout. One of the more hands-on bits is that you cut your own stencils with a scalpel, so you're not just filling in a pre-made template. The finished piece is limited to a maximum of eight letters, which keeps it focused on a single word or a very short phrase.
It's held at The Old Piano Shop, 166 Dereham Road, NR2 3AH — a characterful room that doubles as a working studio, so it's a proper creative space rather than a hired hall. You leave with a unique hand-painted sign to keep or gift, and all the materials, guidance and refreshments are included in the price, so you don't need to bring anything with you.
