Magician-scientist Kevin Quantum brings his show of impossible illusions and levitations, Anti-Gravity, to the Norwich Theatre Playhouse.
Kevin Quantum brings Anti-Gravity to the Norwich Theatre Playhouse on Monday 26 October, a show that sits right where magic and science overlap. Quantum describes himself as a magician-scientist adventurer, and that's not just a bit of stage branding: he's spent half his adult life studying physics and the other half studying magic, and his work lives in the space between the two. He's also a member of the Magic Circle, so he's well within the fold of the UK's magic community.
Anti-Gravity leans into that double life. It's built around impossible illusions and levitations, and it frames magic as something real rather than just a trick. The whole thing plays with the rules of gravity until they bend and break, which is where the title comes from. It's not a stand-up magic act in the traditional sense; there's a scientific thread running through it that reflects the physics background he brings to the table.
Quantum didn't come to this alone, either. He was tutored by Penn & Teller, two of the biggest names in the business, and he's spent years touring award-winning, sell-out performances around the world. This is one of those shows that works as much for the curious as it does for the sceptic, and it's recommended for ages 8 and over, so it's one you can bring the kids along to if they're old enough.
