The smash-hit Broadway and West End musical Hadestown, weaving the mythic love stories of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone, on its UK and Ireland tour.
Hadestown comes to Norwich Theatre Royal from Tuesday 11 May to Saturday 15 May 2027, as part of its first-ever UK and Ireland tour, which got underway back in February. It's a Broadway and West End musical by singer-songwriter AnaΓ―s Mitchell, who started it as an indie theatre project and an album before bringing it to the stage with director Rachel Chavkin. The show picked up eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album; the original cast recording has been streamed nearly a billion times and is certified Gold by the RIAA.
On stage, it weaves together two mythic love stories: Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and his wife Persephone. The Guardian described it as 'big, beautiful and emotionally blasting'. It's been seen by over six million people, and while this tour is its first run around the UK and Ireland, the West End production is still going at the Lyric Theatre, more than eight years after its sold-out National Theatre engagement in 2018.
