Folk night headlined by Green Diesel, with Joshua Arnold & Therine and Florence Rose Broomfield at The Holloway.
Green Diesel play The Holloway on Saturday 17 October, with Joshua Arnold & Therine and Florence Rose Broomfield opening the bill. It's a night of dark folklore and psychedelia, and the three acts on the line-up each pull from a different corner of the folk tradition.
Green Diesel formed in Faversham, Kent, and their sound sits somewhere between the ritualistic fire of Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention and the Canterbury scene and early prog. They work with violin, electric guitar, and folklore-infused lyrics, and they've picked up critical acclaim and a spot in the UK Folk Top 40 along the way. They've shared stages with Large Plants, the New Eves, and Lavinia Blackwall.
Support comes from Joshua Arnold & Therine, a North West folk duo whose hurdy-gurdy and vocals lean into the dark and macabre. They blend 15th-century hurdy-gurdy music with drone and noise, and write original doomfolk about the 1612 Lancashire witch trials. Florence Rose Broomfield, a London-born singer, plays what she calls 'gloom folk' — traditional folk mixed with guitars and stringed instruments, with songs about the passing of time through changing seasons, memory, and emotion.

Between the three, you've got the hurdy-gurdy, the violin, and the electric guitar, so it's a fair bit of ground to cover in one evening. The Holloway is on St Lawrence's Steps, Norwich, NR2 4PE. The night starts at 7:30pm, and tickets are £10.
