Screening of Cristian Mungiu's drama 'Fjord', presented by the Norwich Film Festival in collaboration with Picturehouse Entertainment.
Fjord is screening at Cinema City on Tuesday 10 November, part of the Norwich Film Festival. It's a feature film directed by Cristian Mungiu, with Sebastian Stan, Renate Reinsve, Lisa Carlehed, Ellen Dorrit Petersen and Lisa Loven Kongsli in the cast.
The story follows a Romanian-Norwegian Pentecostal couple who move with their five children to an isolated Norwegian coastal village. Things take a turn when their daughter, Elia, turns up at school with bruises, raising suspicions about the family's strict religious upbringing. It's the kind of domestic drama that starts with a small, worrying detail and pulls the thread until the whole thing unravels.
The screening is presented by the Norwich Film Festival in collaboration with Picturehouse Entertainment. The festival itself has been running since 2009, starting as a BAFTA and BIFA qualifying short film festival that showcases work from local, national and international independent and mainstream filmmakers. Over the years it's launched films that went on to win BAFTAs and Oscars, as well as awards at Sundance, Tribeca and South by Southwest, and it counts patrons like Olivia Colman, Stephen Fry, Brian Cox and John Cleese.

This year's edition selected 136 short films from 1,399 submissions, spread across 21 curated screenings. There are seven Short Film Award categories and a Creative Futures programme for the next generation of filmmakers, so while Fjord is a feature, it sits within a wider festival that's heavily focused on short film and new talent. The screening is at 8pm at Cinema City on St Andrews Street, NR2 4AD.
