Thrash, D&B, hardcore and punk night with CLOWNSMASHEVERYTHING, PROJECT MORK and AMONGST STRANGERS at Dead Wax Social.
CLOWNSMASHEVERYTHING are putting on a triple bill at Dead Wax Social on Saturday 17 October, with PROJECT MORK and AMONGST STRANGERS joining them. It's a night that pulls from a few different corners of the loud end of things — thrash, D&B, hardcore and punk — and it's organised by Clown Smash Everything themselves.
CLOWNSMASHEVERYTHING describe themselves as genre-spanning hardcore dandies, and the name gives you a fair idea of the mix. They bring together punk, metal and desert rock, pairing big choruses with angular riffs and lyrics they describe as darkly humorous and venomous. It's a broad reach, and the desert rock side suggests something a bit heavier and slower than the punk side, so you'll get a fair bit of ground covered in one set.
PROJECT MORK play what they call 'Shabba-Thrash', a punk style they coined themselves. It takes in dance, ska and DnB edges alongside melodic flourishes, so it's not your standard three-chord punk — there's a dancefloor sensibility running through it. AMONGST STRANGERS are a fierce four-piece from Norwich: Sam on vocals and guitar, Kev on guitar, Tony on bass and Cheese on drums. Their debut five-track EP, Strength of a Few, was a high-velocity rejection of authority, with the track 'This World' confronting systemic destruction.

Between the three of them, the night moves from the melodic and the dancey to the heavy and the political. It's a local line-up, with Amongst Strangers coming from right here in the city. The music runs from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM at Dead Wax Social, 32 Prince of Wales Road, NR1 1LG, and tickets are £5 with no booking fee.
