Pink Floyd tribute with four musicians and a light and laser show, from Piper at the Gates of Dawn to The Division Bell.
A Saucerful of Floyd play The Brickmakers on Friday 15 January, starting at 20:30. They're a Pink Floyd tribute that takes a fairly traditional approach: four musicians on stage standing in for the four members of the original band, rather than a larger ensemble or a loose interpretation. The set runs through the band's whole career, from The Piper at the Gates of Dawn right through to The Division Bell, so you'll hear the early psychedelic stuff alongside the later, more polished records.
It's not just about the music, though. They run a light and laser show with sound effects that they describe as an intimate but powerful accompaniment, meant to carry the audience through that same journey across the albums. If you're into the atmospheric side of Floyd, that's where the show puts its focus.
The Brickmakers is one of Norwich's most well-known venues, and it's a bit of a multi-stage operation. The main stage usually hosts local covers bands and is typically free entry; the B2 venue is a grassroots space for up-and-coming acts across metal, rock, pop, punk and folk; and there's an outside stage used during the summer. This one is on the main stage.
