A festive family musical for under fives where the audience helps Remi sort letters to Santa, with music, silliness and audience participation.
The Christmas Sorting Office runs at Northern Stage from 21 November 2026 to 2 January 2027, in Stage 3 at Barras Bridge. It's a festive family show aimed at under-fives and their grown-ups, billed as a perfect first theatre experience.
The story is set in a top-secret North East Sorting Office that receives thousands of letters to Santa from children — and the occasional grown-up — across Tyne and Wear. Remi is the one in charge of sifting, stacking and getting them Santa-ready before they zoom off to the North Pole. It's a big job for one person, and Remi is in a bit of a muddle, so the audience has to pitch in. The result is a festive story full of music, silliness and plenty of chances to join in.
Stan Hodgson created and directed the show, with set and costume design by Anna Robinson. It's built for the very young, so the whole run is relaxed, and there are a few specific performances to keep in mind: BSL shows run on Saturday 19 December, and audio described shows are on Monday 21 and Sunday 27 December.
