Stand-up comedy show Tall Tales by Susan Calman, about cruising, driving tanks, cats and getting older.
Susan Calman is back on the UK stage with Tall Tales, and the Newcastle date lands at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House on Friday 6 November. It's her first tour in ten years, so it's been a while since she's done a full run of stand-up across the country.
The show takes its title from the sort of things she's been up to since she last toured. She describes herself as a spiritual titan of the comedy scene, and the set is built around the improbable situations she's found herself in over the last decade: cruising, driving tanks, cats, and getting older. It's a stand-up show in the truest sense, with the stories coming from her own life rather than a script.
If you're not entirely sure where you recognise her from, there's plenty to choose from. Before comedy, she had a high-flying career in corporate law, and her screen credits run from Grand Day Out, Cruising with Susan Calman, QI and House of Games to Fresh Meat and, a long time ago, a stint on Strictly Come Dancing. The Newcastle show is part of a UK tour that's been running since October, so by the time it hits the Tyne, the material will have had a few weeks to bed in.
