Solo piano concert by Newcastle composer Steve Luck at the intimate Victoria Tunnel venue.
Steve Luck is back at the Victoria Tunnel on Saturday 19 December, playing solo piano. It's a familiar pairing — Luck has played the tunnel many times, and he describes the room as something that shapes every show: notes linger, silences matter, and the setting becomes part of the performance. If you've been before, you'll know the space is a good fit for this kind of music.
Luck is a Newcastle pianist and composer whose work explores place, memory, stillness and human connection. He's also an experienced media composer, having written for more than 75 film, television and media projects, and he picked up two Royal Television Society awards for Professional Excellence in Music in 2007. Since releasing his first solo piano music in 2014, he's built a sound centred around an intimate, felted piano, with four albums to his name: Collected Piano Pieces Vol 1, Sojourn, Be Curious and Homecoming. Between them, his recordings have been streamed more than four million times.

Beyond the piano, he's a long-standing member of the Musicians' Union Music Writers Committee and a patron of the Newcastle Piano Festival. This is a solo piano set, so it's just him and the instrument in the tunnel. The show starts at 7:30 PM, and capacity is very limited — these dates regularly sell out, so it's worth getting your tickets sorted early if you're planning to go.
