Brazilian dance company Sao Paulo Dance Company brings bold, energetic contemporary dance to the Main Stage with pieces Agora, Umbó and Est.ação.
Sao Paulo Dance Company are coming to the Theatre Royal on Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 March, performing on the Main Stage. They're touring the three pieces Agora, Umbó and Est.ação, and it's their second UK tour after a first one that went down well. The company was founded in 2008 and is widely regarded as Brazil's leading dance company, known for a style where classical technique meets contemporary innovation, all driven by a powerful Latin pulse. The Daily Telegraph called it 'red hot entertainment' and Bachtrack described it as 'sizzling hot. Sheer brilliance'.
Both shows start at 7.30pm and run for an hour and 40 minutes, including an interval. The Tuesday night is the one with the most going on around it: there's an audio-described performance and a pre-show touch tour, and a BSL-interpreted post-show talk that evening. The Wednesday follows with a curtain raiser performance. The whole thing is presented by Dance Consortium.
