Sam Campbell

Sam Campbell is playing the Tyne Theatre & Opera House on Thursday 15 October, one of three nights he's doing in the city — he's also on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14, all starting at 7:30pm. If you've seen him on TV, you'll recognise the Australian stand-up who won the Barry Award for Most Outstanding Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2018 and the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show in 2022. He's a regular on the panel circuit, too: Would I Lie to You?, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and QI are all on his CV.

Beyond the panel shows, he's a writer-performer on Channel 4's Get Real Dude and the cult series Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, and he co-hosts the podcast Lucy & Sam's Perfect Brains with Lucy Beaumont. He also took home the win on Taskmaster Series 16 in 2023, so if you've followed that, you've seen him in a slightly different light than you'll find on stage.

As for the show itself, Campbell keeps the blurb brief and a bit odd. He writes: 'I have been on tv over 5 times. May I divulge a secret? I have purchased a large metal ring.' It doesn't give much away, but it's a fair hint at the kind of thing to expect.

Tickets are £32.05 to £29.05, with a student price of £27.05 — all of those include a venue levy and a £2.70 booking fee. He's at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House on Westgate Road, with shows on Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14, and Thursday 15 October, all starting at 7:30pm.
