A live stage production inspired by the Paranormal Activity film series, following a couple who discover that people are haunted, not places. Features special effects, haze, and theatrical gore.
Paranormal Activity opens at the Theatre Royal on Tuesday 13 April, with the run continuing through to Saturday 17 April. It's a live stage production inspired by the Paramount Pictures film series, but it's a brand-new story told on stage rather than a remake of the movies. The plot follows James and Lou, a couple who move from Chicago to London to escape their past, only to find that places aren't haunted — people are.
It's written by author Levi Holloway, produced by Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska for Melting Pot, and directed by Felix Barrett. The production arrives in Newcastle as part of its first-ever UK and Ireland tour, following a sell-out, extended run in the West End. On stage, James Bye plays James, Hannah Sinclair Robinson plays Lou, Jo Castleton takes on Etheline Cotgrave, and Caroline Faber plays Carolanne.
There are a few things to keep in mind before you book. It's recommended for ages 15 and over, and the show uses haze, flashing lights, sudden darkness, loud and sustained sound, and theatrical gore. The Guardian called it 'a night that leaves you spellbound', and the Financial Times described it as 'a cracking ghost story'.
