A riotous comedy farce through Greek mythology by the comedy theatre company Le Navet Bete, featuring physical comedy and outrageous jokes.
Le Navet Bete are back at the Theatre Royal on Friday 9 April 2027, with their new show Oh Zeus!. It's a riotous ride through Greek mythology, and they've pitched it for fans of Fawlty Towers, Bottom and The Play That Goes Wrong—so you've got a good idea of the kind of physical comedy and chaos they're aiming for.
The plot kicks off when the stability of Olympus is threatened by the marriage of Zeus's daughter, Hebe, to a mere mortal. The King of the Gods doesn't take kindly to that, so he hatches a plan to derail the wedding. From there, the farce takes off, with three actors playing 40 characters as the story travels through Ancient Greece, down to the Underworld and back again. It's packed with physical comedy, outrageous jokes and more togas than you can smash a plate at.
It's a brand-new show from one of the UK's most-loved comedy theatre companies—the same team behind Dracula: The Bloody Truth and King Arthur and Treasure Island—this time teaming up with Olivier Award-nominated comedy writer and director John Nicholson. The whole thing runs 2 hours and 20 minutes including the interval, and it's recommended for ages 7 and above, so it works as a family outing as much as a night out with friends. It's sponsored by Vertu and Kings of Comedy.
