Craft and Flea's Makers Market with local artisans and vintage traders selling handmade and hand-designed goods.
Newcastle's Christmas Craft & Flea Market takes over the Boiler Shop on Sunday 15 November, from 11 am to 4 pm. It's one of those markets that pulls together a good cross-section of the city's creative side, with local artisans and makers filling the room with handmade, hand-designed and authentic vintage goods.
What you'll find there runs the gamut from ceramics and illustration to candles, jewellery and vintage collections. It's a mix of new work and curated finds, so you can pick up something fresh from a maker's bench and a one-off vintage piece in the same trip. The organisers screen every stall application, so the traders are vetted before they get a spot, and they're always open to new makers applying for future dates.
It's a good spot to get a head start on Christmas shopping, but it works just as well if you're just out for a look. The ceramics, jewellery and candles make for easy gifts, and the vintage collections are worth a proper browse if you're after something a bit more particular. Because it's a makers' market, you're buying straight from the people who actually made the things, which is always a better way to do it than picking something off a shelf.
