Theatrical world premiere of the Midsomer Murders whodunnit, The Killings at Badger's Drift, at Theatre Royal.
Midsomer Murders - The Killings at Badger's Drift comes to Theatre Royal from 27 to 31 July 2027, part of a second UK tour for the stage adaptation of the first Midsomer Murders book by Caroline Graham. It's a classic whodunnit that takes the murder-mystery into the countryside, following the 1997 pilot episode that launched the television series and bringing the wit, charm and chilling suspense of the screen original to the stage.
The plot starts in the picturesque village of Badger's Drift, where well-loved spinster Emily Simpson is found dead. Her friend Lucy Bellringer refuses to accept it was an accident, and DCI Tom Barnaby and Sergeant Gavin Troy are called in to investigate. From there, they uncover a world of hidden passions, long-buried secrets and deadly rivalries, with eccentric villagers, shocking twists and an unforgettable revelation.
There's a bit of a full-circle moment with the casting: Daniel Casey, who played Sergeant Troy in the original TV series, now leads the cast as DCI Tom Barnaby. He's joined by John Nettles as Sergeant Gavin Troy, and Casey says the production remains completely faithful to the original. Nettles gave it his seal of approval after seeing it in Truro.
