A charity walking tour with Rob Chapman along the banks of the Tyne, featuring stories of ghosts, witches and murder.
Rob Chapman is leading a charity walking tour from Grey's Monument on Saturday 31 October, just in time for Halloween. It's called Ghosts and Grisly Tales, and it follows the banks of the Tyne, drawing on the city's grim past with stories of ghosts, witches and murder. It's billed as the creepiest walking tour in Newcastle, and given the date, it's a natural fit for the day.
The route takes you along the river, and the tales it leans on come from the city's darker history. It's not just a stroll through the centre; you'll be walking the banks of the Tyne while Chapman tells stories of the ghosts, witches and murders that have left their mark on the place. It's the kind of thing that makes you look at the river and the old buildings around it a bit differently.
There's a good cause behind it, too. It's a charity event, and the proceeds go to Us Active, a Newcastle charity that helps local young people improve their mental health through sport and exercise. So, if you're out for the stories, you're also putting something back into the city.

The walk gathers around Grey's Monument on Grey Street, a city centre spot that's long served as a starting point for the Newcastle Ghost Walks, which have been running since 2006. It starts at 3pm and lasts about 90 minutes, so you're back before it gets properly dark. Tickets start from £15.
