A talk by DG Fitzgerald exploring the obscure oddities, folklore and mysterious history of Newcastle, part of the Castle Talks series.
DG Fitzgerald takes the stage at The Black Gate on Friday 16 October, as part of Newcastle Castle's Castle Talks series. It's an hour-long session that looks at the city's uncanny side, and it's held right in the heart of the old fortress on Castle Garth.
Most of us know the big landmarks that define the city, but this one turns away from them to dig into the obscure bits of Newcastle's folklore. Fitzgerald covers restless spirits, Roman remains, and the kind of fabulous folklore that doesn't usually make the tourist brochures. There's even a flying donkey in the mix, so it's not just ghosts and ruins.
The talk runs for an hour, with time left over for a Q&A afterwards, so you can ask about anything that catches your ear. Hot and cold drinks are available on the night, and the venue is fully wheelchair accessible.
