Concert by Glasgow rock and pop band Brontes, supported by Bogle, at The Cumberland Arms.
Brontes play The Cumberland Arms on Saturday 17 October, with Bogle on the bill as well. It's a Glasgow band coming down to Newcastle, and they've spent the last few years reinventing themselves as a four-piece rock and pop outfit, with Eva Watt, Erin Reidy, Katie Forrest and Amelia Haldane at the helm. The set is a mix of pop and indie pop, and they describe their sound as drawing on pop music across the generations.
That's a wide net to cast, and the influences they cite make it clear why. They name Sabrina Carpenter alongside Blondie and the Ronettes, so the pop they're working with reaches from current chart-toppers back to the New York punk scene of the late seventies and the girl-group harmonies of the sixties. It's that range that puts them in the indie pop camp rather than just one end of the pop spectrum.

They're a four-piece now, and the whole band is out on stage, so the set will be a full-band affair rather than a singer-songwriter thing. With Bogle also on the bill, there's more than one act to catch on the night. The music starts at 7:00 PM at The Cumberland Arms in Newcastle upon Tyne.
