Sunrise wellness cruise offering Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin yoga sessions aboard the MV Calmer, with a nourishing breakfast afterwards.
Yoga on the Water is coming to the Queens Wharf Terminal on Sunday 27 September, a sunrise wellness cruise aboard the MV Calmer. It's part of the Yoga On The Water collection and presented by All Event Cruises, and they're billing it as a sunrise wellness experience unlike anything else in Newcastle. The boat departs at 6:00 am sharp, with boarding from 5:45 am, and the whole thing runs until 8:00 am, so you'll be back on land well before the city fully wakes up.
The morning is built around three different yoga styles. As the sun rises over Newcastle Harbour, you rotate every 25 minutes between three decks, each led by a different experienced instructor. One deck focuses on energising vinyasa flow, another on mindful movement, and the third on restorative stretching, meditation and breathwork. By the time you've cycled through, you've had a bit of everything โ the active, flowing side of yoga and the slower, more grounded side. It's designed for all fitness and experience levels, from beginners to experienced yogis, and it's open to anyone aged 12 and over.
Once the yoga is done, you stay onboard for a nourishing breakfast while taking in the harbour views. It's a good way to wind down and actually enjoy the morning before heading back into the day. You'll need to bring your own yoga mat, a water bottle, comfortable activewear and a light jumper or jacket for the early start. There's a strict no BYO food or beverages policy, except for the water bottles you'll need for the yoga.
