Windwaker live in Newcastle on their 'smile, you're on camera' headline tour, with special guests The Pretty Wild, RinRin and DREGG.
Windwaker bring their smile, you're on camera tour to the King Street Bandroom on Friday 6 November, with doors opening at 7:00 PM. The Melbourne five-piece are touring their new album, which they co-wrote in Los Angeles with Daniel Braunstein of Spiritbox and Dayseeker. Frontman Liam Guinane has called it their most honest release yet, a record that channels the challenges and triumphs of the last few years and serves as a soundtrack to the band's journey since HYPERVIOLENCE. The single 'closer' gives a good sense of where it sits, opening with neon synths and a hypnotic drumbeat.
Windwaker describe themselves as a genre-bending hyperpop-metal act, and the line-up reflects that mix. Guinane is on vocals, with Connor Robins on synths and samples, Chris Lalic on drums, Indey Salvestro on bass and Jesse Crofts on guitar. The smile, you're on camera tour brings the new album to the stage, and the set will draw from it.
Support comes from three acts. The Pretty Wild are visiting Australia for the first time, bringing a mix of metal, hard rock and electronics. RinRin is a Filipino-born, Australian-based artist who has fused hyperpop with alt-pop, alt-metal and pop punk since emerging in 2020. DREGG are Melbourne-based and labelmates on Fearless Records, known for a high-energy blend of metal, hardcore and rap.
