Rogue Traders reunite their original lineup for a one-night show of their 2000s dance-rock hits on The Anthems 21st Anniversary Tour.
Rogue Traders are back at the King Street Hotel on Thursday 29 October, playing the King St Band Room as part of their The Anthems 21st Anniversary Tour. It's a one-night-only show, and they're bringing the original lineup back together for it: Natalie Bassingthwaighte, James Ash, Tim Henwood and Cameron McGlinchey.
The set is built around the noughties dance-rock hits that made them a household name. Much of that comes from Here Come The Drums, the 2005 album fronted by Bassingthwaighte, which peaked at number two and went four times Platinum. The lead single, 'Voodoo Child', hit number four in Australia, number seven in New Zealand and became a number three summer smash in the UK. The show leans on that era's biggest tracks, including 'Watching You' and 'In Love Again', delivered as a night of rock-infused electro nostalgia.
There's a bit of history to the band that doesn't always get mentioned. Rogue Traders started when James Ash and Steve Davis met in London in 1989 and worked together as the dance act Union State. The 2005 album Here Come The Drums marked a shift in sound and a change in front, with Bassingthwaighte taking over vocals and the band moving into the dance-rock territory they're best known for. Since then, they've also put out a new album, Midnight Alarms.
