Urthboy brings his eighth album 'Reckless Bloom' to life with a 6-piece live band at King Street Hotel.
Urthboy is playing the King Street Warehouse on Saturday 28 November, bringing his eighth album, Reckless Bloom, to the stage. He's not doing it solo; he's backed by a six-piece band of jazz musicians, so the songs get a full live treatment rather than just a DJ set. The show is part of a tour that stops in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle.
Urthboy describes Reckless Bloom as a response to an era of AI-generated content and algorithmic culture. He says it comes with a clarified sense of artistic purpose that separates the art from the politics, and the live band carries that through. The set is built around the new record, and he's described the tour as an intentionally small affair, with low ticket prices and no gimmicks. It's a straightforward night of music rather than a big production.
