A fast-paced, fearless improv comedy show where The Suggestibles create scenes, songs and spontaneous theatre from audience suggestions.
The Suggestibles are back at The Stand on Thursday 15 October, their first date in the city this spring. They're a long-standing fixture of the North East comedy scene, with more than twenty years on the circuit and fifteen of those spent playing The Stand. They describe themselves as Newcastle's legendary team of mischief-makers, and that's a fair summary of how they work: fast, fearless improv built entirely on audience suggestions.
On the night, they'll ask the room for locations, jobs and relationships, and then shape those on the fly into scenes, songs and spontaneous theatre. There's no script and nothing rehearsed, so the set changes every time they do it. If a suggestion steals the show, the audience member who gave it wins tickets to another night, which gives you a reason to shout out something properly weird. Critics have called them a phenomenon, wildly irreverent and zanily dreamlike, and that's a good way to frame what to expect: it's less about a polished stand-up set and more about watching a group make things up as they go.

It's a strictly over-18s night, so you'll need to be 18 or older to get in. There are concessions for NUS/Universal Credit, ages 18-24 and 60+, so bring your ID if you're eligible for one of those. If you've never seen them before, this is a good place to start: a room full of people throwing out ideas and a team that's spent fifteen years at the same venue turning them into a show.
