Taste Of The Hunter Valley

Taste of the Hunter Valley returns to The Station on Saturday 26 September, from 11am to 6pm. It's one of the city's biggest celebrations of local food, drink and entertainment, and it brings the best of Australia's oldest wine region right to the Newcastle waterfront. The day fills the venue with stalls of Hunter Valley wines, craft beers, spirits, gourmet cheeses, deli favourites and artisan produce, with food trucks and live local music running alongside.

There's a bit more to it than just grazing. The Discover Stage Sessions let you hear directly from the local producers and makers behind what's on the tables, so you can get the story of how it's made. And if you're bringing the family, there's a kids' area with jumping castles, giant slides, face painting, mini golf and lawn games, which sits next to a bowling alley and a golf chipping dart board. It's set up so you can drift between the tasting stalls and the activities without having to commit to one or the other.

The event is part of Newcastle's wider calendar of food and wine gatherings, which range from intimate chef's table experiences to vibrant street food festivals. This one is on the larger end of that scale, with the Hunter Valley's wineries, chefs and distillers all in one spot on the foreshore.

Tickets for adults start from A$24.95, which gets you six tasting tokens and a branded tasting glass to use throughout the day. Youth tickets (16-17 years) start from A$15.95, and children under 16 are free when accompanied by a responsible adult. It runs from 11am to 6pm at The Station, on the corner of Scott and Watt Streets in Newcastle.
