Philip Jamieson, former frontman of Grinspoon, brings his new solo album '10Charlie' to the Hamilton Station Hotel as part of his national tour.
Philip Jamieson is playing the Hamilton Station Hotel on Friday 14 August, as part of his national tour. He's the former frontman of Grinspoon, and while that name might be the first thing you associate with him, this is a solo run. He's touring his new album, 10Charlie, and the set is built around it.
Jamieson has a long connection to the Newcastle music scene, having grown up near Port Macquarie, but this is his first-ever show at the Hamilton Station Hotel. It's a bit of a milestone for him to finally play this particular room, even if he's no stranger to the region.
10Charlie is his most personal project to date, and the title comes from seat 10C on a 737 aircraft — a nod to the countless flights he's taken throughout his career. He's been clear that this tour is about his own material, not a 'Grinspoon unplugged' set, so you'll hear the new songs rather than a trip through the old catalogue. He describes live performance as his primary motivation, and that's what's on the bill here.
