Interactive fashion installation by Fast Fashun where visitors transform discarded textiles into wearable creations and join runway shows.
Fast Fashun are bringing Curtain Call: Strut Your Stuff to the Newcastle Museum this spring, and it's more of a workshop than a show. The Melbourne-based collective has built a large-scale interactive installation inside the McIntyre Theatrette, where the main feature is a towering curtain made entirely of discarded textiles. The idea is that you don't just watch it — you work with the curtain to make your own wearable creations, and then you take to the runway as designer, performer and star, with professional artists there to guide you. It's a playful, inclusive, and proudly imperfect celebration of creativity and self-expression, and it asks you to rethink fashion, sustainability and who gets to take centre stage.
The installation is run by the touring artists Teneille Clarke and Sebastian Berto, joined by local artists Benjamin Fraser and Sandy Sanderson. The whole thing is commissioned by New Annual for the 2026 festival and supported by Create NSW.

There are two different ways to experience it, depending on when you go. Saturdays are all-ages and all-abilities, with runway shows every hour on the hour. Sundays are relaxed and low-sensory, with the artists on hand for tactile tours. It runs across four days: Saturday 26 September, Sunday 27 September, Saturday 3 October and Sunday 4 October, from 10am to 2pm each day. It's free and a drop-in activity, so there's no need to book — you can just turn up at the McIntyre Theatrette inside the Newcastle Museum, Museum Park, 430 Hunter Street, Newcastle 2300.
