Grunge pioneers Mudhoney headline the King Street Bandroom in Newcastle with Primitive Ring on their Australian Tour 2026.
Mudhoney play the King Street Bandroom on Friday 23 October, part of their Australian Tour 2026 presented by Press Play. They're the headliners, with the Los Angeles trio Primitive Ring opening.
If you're coming to them through the Seattle sound, you're in the right place. Formed in 1988, Mudhoney were one of the defining acts on the independent label Sub Pop and helped set the blueprint that pushed the city's scene into the mainstream. Eddie Vedder called them "the band of that time and sound". Their mix of garage rock, punk and fuzz-heavy tunes—from "Touch Me I'm Sick" through "Suck You Dry"—became essential listening for anyone following the era. Their 2023 album Plastic Eternity showed they're still as restless and loud as ever, so the set should pull from both the early records and the newer material.

Opening for them are Primitive Ring, a trio from Los Angeles whose members have played in Fuzz, GØGGS, the Ty Segall Band, Mikal Cronin and Iggy Pop's touring lineup. Between the two, the night sits firmly in the garage-rock and fuzz-heavy territory Mudhoney have occupied since the start. The Newcastle date is one stop on the Australian Tour 2026, presented by Press Play. It's Friday 23 October at the King Street Bandroom.
