A high tea harbour cruise aboard MV Calmer with a fresh seasonal menu of sweet and savoury treats, suitable for birthdays and catch-ups.
High Tea on the Harbour is back on the water on Saturday 5 September, with All Event Cruises taking the MV Calmer out of the Queens Wharf Ferry Terminal for a few hours. It's a high tea cruise around Newcastle Harbour, and since it's a three-level vessel, you've got plenty of deck space to watch the city drift by while you eat.
The food is the main draw here. It's a seasonal menu, so the selection of sweet treats and savoury bites changes with the time of year, and it's served as the ship makes its way around the harbour. You'll be sitting at shared tables, and there's a licensed bar on board if you want a drink to go with it. The whole thing is pitched as a relaxed, dressed-up day out—the kind of thing that works for a birthday, a hens party, or just a long-overdue catch-up with friends. New dates have been added because the previous ones filled up, so if you've been meaning to get one in the diary, this is a good chance.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you book. It's smart casual, but they ask for small chunky heels only—stilettoes aren't a great fit for a moving boat. There's no BYO food or drinks, so you'll be relying on what's on board. And if you have mobility issues, be aware that the boat has steep stairs and no wheelchair access, so it's not fully accessible. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, too, so make sure your date is set before you commit.
