Colour Frenzy

Colour Frenzy comes to the Stockton Foreshore on Sunday 4 October, and it's a bit different from your usual 5k. The whole thing is built around a 1km loop, which means you get to decide your own distance. You can do a single lap and call it a day, or keep going until you hit the full 5km. You walk, jog, run or crawl it at your own pace, and there's no timing and no pressure to finish in any particular time.

Along the way, the course turns into more of a playground than a race. There are five colour stations, a foam zone filled with bubbles and inflatable crawl obstacles to get through. It's designed to be something you do with a group rather than a solo effort, and the day welcomes families, friends, schools, community groups and dogs. Everyone who signs up gets a race pack with an entry wristband, sunglasses, a personal colour pouch and a finisher medal.

There's a bit more to it than just the run, too. A portion of the registration money goes to local animal rescue organisations across Australia, so your entry helps out a few four-legged friends along the way. Tickets range from A$10 to A$119, and the whole thing takes place at the Stockton Foreshore, Wharf Crescent, Stockton, 2295.
