The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby comes to Jackson Hall at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center from March 5 to 14, 2027. It's the Tony Award-winning musical based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic American novel, and this is the first time the story has been adapted for the Broadway musical stage.

If you know the book, you know the setup: the eccentric millionaire Jay Gatsby and his pursuit of his lost love, Daisy Buchanan. The production brings the Roaring Twenties to life with grand production design and a jazz- and pop-infused original score by Tony Award nominees Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen. It's directed by Marc Bruni, with choreography by Dominique Kelley and a book by Kait Kerrigan. The Broadway production itself began previews at The Broadway Theatre on March 29, 2024, opened on April 25, 2024, and took home the 2024 Tony Award for Best Costume Design.

Fitzgerald's novel has sold over 30 million copies worldwide since it first came out in 1925 and has been adapted into several films, including Baz Luhrmann's version starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This is the first time it's been a Broadway musical, so it's a new take on a story that's been around for a century. The show is produced by Chunsoo Shin, OD Company, and NETworks Presentations, with worldwide management by Foresight Theatrical.

There are a lot of showtimes to choose from over the ten days. It opens Friday, March 5, at 7:30 PM. Saturday, March 6, has a 2:00 PM matinee and a 7:30 PM evening show. Sunday, March 7, runs at 1:00 PM and 6:30 PM. Weeknights follow on Tuesday, March 9, Wednesday, March 10, Thursday, March 11, and Friday, March 12, all at 7:30 PM. The run closes with a double on Saturday, March 13, at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM, and a final double on Sunday, March 14, at 1:00 PM and 6:30 PM.
