Musical memoir about Neil Diamond, featuring classics like Sweet Caroline and Cracklin' Rosie, framed through conversations between his older self and a therapist.
A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical plays at Jackson Hall in Nashville from January 5 through January 10, 2027. It's a musical memoir about Neil Diamond, and it was created in collaboration with Diamond himself. The story follows how a kid from Brooklyn became a chart-busting American rock icon, with 120 million albums sold and a career that earned him inductions into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and sold-out concerts around the world that made him bigger than Elvis.
Rather than a conventional concert tribute, the show frames his story through conversations between his older self and a therapist, which open into scenes from his younger years. The music comes from the songs that defined his career, including Sweet Caroline, Cracklin' Rosie, America, Forever in Blue Jeans and Song Sung Blue. It's built in the mold of Jersey Boys and Beautiful: The Carole King Musicalβan energy-filled musical memoir set to the songs of a single artist.
The production has a Broadway pedigree. The book was written by four-time Academy Award nominee Anthony McCarten, directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, and choreographed by Olivier Award winner Steven Hoggett. It opened on Broadway in December 2022 and ran through June 2024 before heading out on a multi-year North American tour, which is how it's making its way to Nashville.
