Nashville Repertory Theatre presents the Disney musical Frozen, based on the Academy Award-winning animated film, with breathtaking stagecraft and emotional depth.
Nashville Repertory Theatre is bringing Frozen to the Polk Theater this winter, with the run opening on Friday, December 4, and continuing through Sunday, December 20. It's the Disney musical based on the Academy Award-winning animated film, so if you've seen the movie, you already know the general shape of the story.
On stage, the story of sisters Elsa and Anna expands. They grow up sheltered inside the castle of Arendelle, growing more distant from each other as they get older. When Elsa is crowned queen, the magical powers she's tried to conceal take control, and she flees into the mountains. As a ferocious winter descends on the kingdom, Anna sets off on an epic journey to find her, aided by the ice harvester Kristoff, his reindeer Sven, and the snowman Olaf. The production runs two and a half hours plus intermission.
There's a bit more to this than just the show itself: the production is offered with curriculum connections across Theatre, Music, ELA, and Science for grades 4-12, so it's built with school groups in mind. If you're taking kids, that's a good thing to keep in mind.
