Family hike led by park naturalist Cheryl Medley to explore the critters behind 'spooky season' at Bells Bend Outdoor Center.
Bells Bend Outdoor Center is hosting a Creepy-Crawly Family Hike on Saturday, October 24, from 11 AM to 12 PM. It's a guided walk led by park naturalist Cheryl Medley, and it's open to families of all ages. The whole point is to get to know the critters that give 'spooky season' its name, so if you've got kids who are into bugs, spiders, and the kind of things that usually make people jump, this is right up their alley.
The hike sets off from the center itself, which is an environmental education and outdoor recreation facility run by the Nashville Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation. It's the gateway to the 808-acre Bells Bend Park in Northwest Davidson County, so if you've got extra time after the hike, there's plenty to explore. Inside the center, you'll find natural and cultural history displays and a library of natural and local history titles. There's also the historic 1842 Buchanon House and a demonstration garden planted by the Friends of Bells Bend.

Beyond the building, the center serves as the main trailhead for six miles of hiking trails that wind through the park, so you can keep going long after the guided portion is over. The hike runs from 11 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, October 24, at Bells Bend Outdoor Center, 4187 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville, TN 37218.
