Monthly Witching Hour night with DJ sets by Madeleine Melloy and Sylvia Jennings, a live hardware set by dimmer (Alex Guy) and projections by Moqui Joy.
dimmer is the live act taking center stage for the next Witching Hour at Berlin on Thursday, December 3. The night runs from 7 PM to 10 PM in The Cherry Pit, with dimmer performing a live hardware set. Around them, curators Madeleine Melloy and Sylvia Jennings will each spin DJ sets, and Moqui Joy will provide live projections throughout the evening.
Witching Hour is a monthly series presented by Melloy and Jennings, built around the surreal hours of the night: the two spin DJ sets while a live act interprets the mood, with Moqui Joy's projections rounding it out. This month's live act, dimmer, is the new project of local artist Alex Guy, better known as the producer Private Guy. His sets dive into sentimental dub explorations and draw on melancholy, '90s downtempo, and jamais vu.
Knowing the two curators helps set the scene. Melloy, who also records as Mudd, is a Minneapolis DJ and collector whose selections blend ethereal synth pop with new wave, house, and disco. Jennings began curating as a DJ at Radio K, hosted Off the Record and Clashed Attitudes, and worked in music promotion for The Current and the electronic-goth series Dark Energy. Between the two of them, they bring a deep familiarity with the city's electronic and underground scenes.

Tickets are $15 for general admission. The Berlin room is mostly seated, with only a handful of standing-room-only spots, so it's a night that leans more toward listening than dancing. The show runs from 7 PM to 10 PM on Thursday, December 3, at 204 N 1st St.
