Free comedy open mic celebrating the artistry and humor of Black, brown, Indigenous, queer, trans and women folk, with a donation bucket.
Uproar Comedy returns to Bryant Lake Bowl on Monday, October 26, for another open mic night. It's a night co-produced by Devohn Bland, Madi RT, and Comrade Tripp, who frame the room as a commitment to celebrating the artistry, humor, and strength of black, brown, indigenous, queer, trans, and women folk, one show at a time.
Because it's an open mic, the lineup is built on the fly. You'll see a mix of folks—some who come every month to work through new bits, some who only pop up once in a while, and maybe a few people taking the stage for the first time. That's the whole point of the format: it's about the process of getting on stage and trying things out in front of a live room, rather than a polished, headlining set. You get to hear the jokes as they're being built, which is a different kind of energy than a standard comedy show.
One thing that sets this apart from a typical club night is the venue itself. Bryant Lake Bowl is a full restaurant and bar, and that service carries right into the theater. You can have a meal or a drink while you watch, so it works as a full evening out rather than just a quick stop. If you're coming to perform, you'll want to get there early—doors open at 6 PM, and that's when the open mic sign-up happens. The show itself starts at 7 PM, so if you're planning to get a spot on the list, you'll want to be in the building by 6.
