The 15th edition of the Twin Cities Horror Festival, featuring 14 productions of theatre, dance, cabaret, puppetry and short films exploring the horror genre.
The Twin Cities Horror Festival returns to The Crane Theater on Friday, October 16, for its 15th year. It runs through October 31, with opening performances starting at 6 PM on that first Friday. The festival bills itself as the longest-running live performance horror festival in the country, and this edition brings 14 productions to the stage over 16 days.
It's a juried festival, and the lineup covers a lot of ground. You'll find theater, dance, cabaret, puppetry, a short film festival, and spooky programming for kids. The titles this year include Bicentennial Auger, SHED, There's Room for One Thousand, Augmentation, Carmilla, and Tales of Terror... from the Tomb. Rather than the haunted-house format, the festival focuses on live performance, pulling together work that plays with suspense, humor, and the supernatural. The individual shows vary in subject and intensity: some are aimed at adventurous older teenagers and others at adult audiences, and all carry age, language, and blood ratings.

There's an artist-centric side to how it's run, too. Participating producers keep 100% of their ticket sales, and the festival awards production fee assistance through its BIPOC Artist Fund. The Crane Theater is at 2303 NE Kennedy St, Minneapolis, MN 55413.
