The twelve-piece Minneapolis ensemble The Shabby Road Orchestra, joined by The Laurels String Quartet, plays the Beatles' Abbey Road note-for-note.
The Shabby Road Orchestra is back at The Parkway Theater on Saturday, November 7, for their annual celebration of the Beatles' Abbey Road. It's the seventh year they've done this, and the night is presented by the venue itself.
The evening starts with the album played note-for-note, from the opening tracks through to the eight-song medley that closes it. Abbey Road remains one of the best-selling albums of all time, built on songs like "Something," "Come Together," and "Here Comes the Sun." After they work through the whole thing, the set opens up to deep cuts from the band's final five albums and surprises from the solo years. The Shabby Road Orchestra is a twelve-piece Minneapolis ensemble known for its focus on the Beatles' late-period recordings, and for this show they're joined by the Laurels String Quartet.
