Midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a live shadow cast performance by Transvestite Soup.
The Parkway Theater is bringing The Rocky Horror Picture Show back to the screen on Saturday, October 17, with a live shadow cast performance by Transvestite Soup. It's a midnight screening, so the movie starts promptly at midnight, and the doors open at 11:30 PM. If you're coming from across town, keep in mind that midnight start means you're really looking at a Sunday morning finish.
For those who haven't seen it, the 1975 film was directed by Jim Sharman and is rated R. It follows sweethearts Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) to the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite scientist who unveils his creation, a muscular man named Rocky (Meat Loaf), alongside a gallery of wild characters including a creepy butler played by Richard O'Brien. The movie has long lived on as an interactive midnight-movie experience, and this screening pairs the picture with a live shadow cast performance by Transvestite Soup, who act out the scenes in front of the screen while the film plays behind them.
