Minnesota quartet The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra plays a night of prog-rock and jazz fusion with a few spooky surprises, in a 21+ venue.
The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra plays The Hook and Ladder on Thursday, October 29, as part of a themed night they're calling Night of the Living Prog. It's a high-energy set of prog-rock and jazz fusion with a few spooky surprises mixed in, and costumes are welcome. Doors open at 6:30 PM, with the show starting at 7:30 PM.
If you haven't run into them before, The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra is a Minnesota-based quartet that's been bending genre boundaries since 2009. They mix prog-rock, jazz fusion, and bluegrass into one energetic sound, and they've put out seven albums since they started. Along the way, they've earned three DownBeat nominations and collaborated with symphony orchestras, combining serious musicianship with big riffs, memorable melodies, groovy jams, and plenty of improvisation. Their target audience is fans of Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson, Dixie Dregs, and Gentle Giant.
For this particular show, the prog-rock and jazz fusion take center stage, and the Night of the Living Prog theme means there will be a few appropriately spooky surprises throughout the night. Since costumes are welcome, it's a good excuse to lean into the Halloween season a few days early. The venue is 21+ and there are no refunds.
