Safe and inclusive Halloween costume dance party with Michael Grey, hip-hop, R&B, EDM, pop and more, from 10pm to 2am.
The Assortment returns to the James Ballentine VFW Post 246 on Saturday, October 24, for its monthly dance party. It's a 21+ night that runs from 10 PM to 2 AM, and this time it's billed as a Halloween costume and dance party, so there's a good excuse to show up in something more than your usual Saturday night outfit.
Michael Grey is on the decks, and the music lives up to the name. The Assortment is a safe and inclusive dance party that happens every fourth Saturday at the Uptown VFW, where people from all walks of life gather to dance and sing along to a wide range of sounds. The set pulls from hip-hop, R&B, EDM, and pop, and reaches over into emo, house, new wave, and disco. It's the kind of night where you can hear a few different eras and genres in one go, and the crowd is usually there for exactly thatβto dance and sing along rather than just stand and listen.
This edition adds a visual element to the mix: spooky visuals by Terr the Om will run throughout the night, leaning into the Halloween theme. Between the costumes and the visuals, it's a bit more of a production than the usual monthly gathering.
