The Animeros live in concert, blending bolero, psychedelic, and cumbia in a danceable Latin night.
The Animeros play 7th St Entry on Saturday, November 7. They're coming in from Austin, Texas—the self-styled 'Live Music Capital of the World'—and they're the only act on the bill.
Their sound is a bit of a map. They describe it as sitting somewhere between the lush jungles of Colombia, the palm-lined streets of coastal Mexico circa 1960, and the small, dusty cantinas of West Texas. Bolero, psychedelic, and cumbia are the starting points, but the repertoire reaches further than that, pulling in salsa, chachacha, chicha, and other Latin styles. They've built a reputation for filling the dance floor as much as for inviting listeners to engage more deeply with the music, so it's the kind of show that works whether you're there to move or just to listen.
The venue is 7th St Entry, the smaller room attached to the historic First Avenue. It's been hosting live music since 1980, and in another life it served as the Greyhound Cafe in the building's former Greyhound bus station. It's a good fit for a band that blends danceable rhythms with a bit of a psychedelic edge.
