Telescreens perform at 7th St Entry with special guests Runner and Bobby and Nautics.
Telescreens play 7th St Entry on Friday, October 16, as part of their North American tour. They're a four-piece from New York City — Jackson Hamm on vocals and guitar, Josiah Valerius on keys and synth, Austin Brenner on bass and synth, and Oliver Graf on drums — and they're touring their third album, Why the Lights Flicker. The band describes it as their most definitive statement so far and a showcase of their conceptual ambition.
Their sound pulls from an odd mix of influences: The Beatles, Nirvana, and Kanye West. Lyrical Lemonade called them a "genre bending act that infuses rock, pop and electric in a way that simply just works," and they're known for high-energy, fast-paced live shows. The set will draw from Why the Lights Flicker, the record they're taking across the continent.
Two openers share the bill. Runner and Bobby are an indie rock trio from Chicago; drummer Mick Smith and bassist Lula Burke met while auditioning for a punk-rock cover band. Nautics comes out of New York City's alternative underground scene. The 7th St Entry is the smaller room attached to First Avenue, which has occupied the Greyhound building since 1980.
