Celtic band Solas brings its Shamrock City: Tell God & The Devil Tour 2027 to The Parkway Theater, blending music, song, spoken word and theatrical elements.
Solas brings their Shamrock City: Tell God & The Devil Tour 2027 to The Parkway Theater on Sunday, February 21. The show starts at 7 PM, with doors opening at 6 PM, and it's all ages.
This isn't a straight-ahead concert. The performance blends music, song, spoken word, and theatrical elements, all built around their 2013 album Shamrock City. The band describes it as a way to echo the vitality of that record and carry its themes forward into American life today. If you're familiar with the album, you'll recognize the material; if not, the theatrical side should give you a good handle on where it's coming from.
On stage, you'll find founding members Seamus Egan, Winifred Horan, and John Williams, joined by Alan Murray and multi-instrumentalist/vocal polyglot Moira Smiley. Solas formed in New York City in 1995 and has since released twelve albums, drawing on Irish musical traditions with adventurous melodies and instrumentation. The Boston Globe called them "the finest Celtic ensemble this country has ever produced," and The Wall Street Journal described them as "an Irish traditional band bearing all the marks of greatness."
