Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox brings its 'time-twisting' retro style to the State Theatre on Hennepin Avenue with its 'The Future Is Vintage' tour.
Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox brings their The Future Is Vintage world tour to the State Theatre on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. It's a big troupe of singers, dancers, and instrumentalists, and the whole thing is presented by Live Nation.
If you've never caught them, the thing they're known for is a 'time-twisting' style that puts a retro spin on songs you already know. They take 70s rock classics, 80s Britpop hits, current chart toppers, and soundtracks from movies and video games, and rearrange them into vintage styles. The set mixes danceable numbers with showstoppers, and they invite the audience to dress in their vintage best, so it's one of those nights where you can actually lean into the dress code if you're in the mood.
Founder and arranger Scott Bradlee framed this tour as a humanist response to the AI hype. 'In the midst of the AI hype all around us,' he says, 'we're humbly presenting our own unique vision of a spectacular future; one that is built upon the timeless musical genres of the past and the authentically human spirit of creativity that inspired them.' It's a fair way to describe what they do: taking the old sounds and using them to look at the new stuff.
