Saltydog and Caballo Cósmico perform rock and roll for a night of music at Icehouse, the first night of a three-night Halloween run.
Saltydog are playing Icehouse on Thursday, October 29, with Caballo Cósmico opening. It's the first night of a three-night Halloween run that takes them through Minneapolis, Fargo, and Duluth, so if you're in the Twin Cities, this is the one to catch.
Saltydog is a Duluth band, and they describe their sound as sitting at the crossroads of jam rock and funk. The grooves are driven by the drums and the bass lines, with improvisations that they say range from jarring to dreamy. That jam-heavy approach is a good way to frame what they do—they're as much about the stretch and the shift as they are about the song. Caballo Cósmico opens the bill, and the whole night gets visuals by Soop Light Show.

Since it's the start of a three-night run, the Minneapolis show is the first stop before they head out to Fargo and Duluth. If you're a fan of the jam side of things, it's a good chance to see them in the city before they move on. Doors open at 6 PM, and the music starts at 8 PM. Tickets are $13 in advance and $20 at the door, and the show is at Icehouse, 2528 Nicollet Ave S.
