Jazz quartet Ryan Picone Quartet releases its second album 'Fortuna' with a live show at The Hook and Ladder, for ages 21+.
The Ryan Picone Quartet is releasing its second album, Fortuna, at The Hook and Ladder on Saturday, January 23, 2027. The quartet is led by guitarist and composer Dr. Ryan Anthony Picone, who's become a creative force in the Twin Cities' jazz scene by blending deep tradition with a modern, global sensibility. He's a devoted acolyte of the celebrated guitarist Stéphane Wrembel, and his music is rooted in the spirit of Django Reinhardt, but it ventures well beyond that. The sound draws on Rumba Flamenca, Choro, Cuban music, Indian Classical, Post-Minimalist, and Classical traditions.
On stage with Picone are Tessa Nichols-Meade on violin, Ian Stenlund on rhythm guitar, and Matt Blake on standup bass. Together they've built a reputation for pulling from a wide range of styles, and Fortuna is the latest record to come out of that approach. The show is for ages 21 and over, and tickets are sold through the Zen Arcade box office with no refunds. If the reserved seating sells out, standing room only will be available.
